Exhibition: “A Reconstruction of the Fading Memory”- Video Creation Exhibition
participating work: Floating City
Storage and reconstruction are the two major functions in the theory of Cultural Memory. The rapid and dramatic changes in the recent development of Macau have created profound social impact to the city and are leading to the fade-out of our collective memory. The Audio and Visual Association of Cut feels obliged to arouse cultural self-consciousness of Macau by reconstructing the city memory. A campaign was implemented to collect images from the general public. Three visual artists were also invited to select images out of this collection, and to recreate them in the formats of film, installation art or interaction art. The products showing in this exhibition serve to recall and anchor the collective memory of our Macau.
